The Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program is a Punjab Government housing initiative designed to help low-income families get access to affordable housing. The program is being implemented by the Punjab Housing & Town Planning Agency (PHATA), while the Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department serves as the administrative department.

One of the main parts of the program provides interest-free loans of up to Rs 1.5 million to eligible people who already own a small residential plot and want to construct their house.

Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Loan Amount

Eligible applicants can receive financing of up to:

Maximum Loan: Rs 1,500,000 (15 lakh)

The Punjab Government has described these loans as interest-free. This means an approved borrower does not have to pay interest on the loan amount.

Official Punjab Government information published when the scheme was launched stated that a Rs 15 lakh loan would be repaid without interest. The government also announced a three-month grace period before repayments began.

Applicants should rely on the repayment schedule shown in their approval documents because current terms can differ from information published during earlier phases of the program.

Who Can Apply for Apni Chhat Apna Ghar?

According to the official Punjab Government program page, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements established for the scheme.

The applicant must:

  1. Be the head of his or her family according to NADRA records.
  2. Be a permanent resident of Punjab according to the CNIC.
  3. Own and possess the residential land on which the house will be constructed.
  4. Own a plot measuring 5 Marla or less in an urban area or up to 10 Marla in a rural area.
  5. Meet the program's criminal-record requirements.
  6. Not be a defaulter of a financial institution or bank.
  7. Be registered with the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) in a household with a PMT score of 60 or below

These requirements are important because owning land alone does not automatically make someone eligible for the loan.

Urban and Rural Plot Requirements

The program covers both urban and rural areas of Punjab.

For urban areas, the official eligibility page specifies residential land of up to 5 Marla.

For rural areas, residential land can measure up to 10 Marla.

The applicant must be the sole owner and possessor of the land when submitting the online application.

Documents to Keep Ready

The promotional information for the program highlights several documents that applicants may need during verification, including:

  • CNIC
  • Spouse's CNIC if married
  • Applicant's photograph
  • Residential land ownership or registry documents
  • Active mobile number
  • Email address, where applicable

Applicants should enter information that matches their official NADRA and property records. The application is subject to verification by the relevant authorities.

Is the Rs 15 Lakh Loan Really Interest-Free?

Yes. Official Punjab Government announcements describe the housing loan as interest-free. At the program's 2024 cheque distribution, the Punjab Government stated that a person receiving Rs 15 lakh would repay the principal without interest.

This makes the scheme different from a conventional housing loan where interest can substantially increase the total repayment amount.

Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Helpline

Applicants who face registration or application problems can contact the program through its official channels.

The ACAG portal lists PHATA contact numbers 042-99213419 and 042-99213428, along with info@phata.punjab.gov.pk

Punjab Government announcements have also publicized the toll-free housing program helpline 0800-09100

Important Advice for Applicants

Use only the official Punjab Government portal when registering. Do not pay an individual or unofficial agent who promises guaranteed approval.

Eligibility depends on verification of the applicant's CNIC, family information, land ownership and other program requirements. Registration itself should not be treated as confirmation that a loan has been approved.

Because housing program rules can be updated, applicants should check the official ACAG portal before submitting an application, particularly for the current repayment schedule, application window and required documents.
